Two tall and thick volumes, 1/2 leather bindings, brown spines with four raised bands, lettered and ruled in gold; brown leather cover tips; black cloth-covered boards. Books have been recently rebound, with new marbled endpapers; bindings and endpapers are about like new. Page block edges are darkened, and pages are spotted with faint foxing, especially at their margins. Pages are printed on rag paper, which remains flexible after 200+ years. We will ask you to pay the actual cost of shipping these two large volumes if you request that they be shipped via Priority Mail or to places outside the U. S. ; Pages are triple-columned. London, England J. F. and C. Rivington Et Al. 1785 Sixth Edition Hardcover Good+ with no dust jacket
Two hardback volumes, full tree calf bindings; original leather has been professionally rebacked with new leather a shade lighter, and spine label on Volume I has been professionally replaced (corresponding label on Volume II is chipped at its edges). Original leather is cracked and very scuffed; new leather is lightly rubbed at its spine ends and cover corners. Marbled endpapers; hinges are reinforced professionally with brown cloth tape; there are owner's name plates on both front pastedowns ("J. Gerald Pease, /4, Paper Buildings, / Temple. ") Also there is an owner's signature in ink on the second blank page following the front free endpaper of Volume I ("Edmund Fry/ Letter founder. /1785." ) Page block edges are darkened and a bit smudged; pages are starting to darken at their margins and have occasional spots of foxing, especially early and late pages; Volume I, half-title page, frontispiece and title page have dampstains at their gutters (barely affecting border of frontispiece) and at about the extreme 1" of their top outside corners (not affecting frontispiece or text). ; Pages are triple-columned. Generally a clean and unobtrusively rebacked set. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; Unpaginated pages
