Reddish brown cloth binding with embossed pattern, post office seal on front cover repeated in blind on back cover, gold spine lettering and mailbag design on spine. Spine is faded and leans forward a little; binding is tight but is scuffed on its faces and rubbed at its edges; corners and spine ends are beginning to fray, so that the underlying boards are just starting to show through; there is a 1/4" dent at the fore edge of the front cover, not breaking the cloth. Page block edges and endpapers are darkened, and pages are spotted with a scattering of faint foxing. There is an owner's name in pencil on the front free endpaper and the first blank page, and an owner has underlined in pencil occasional words and short phrases all through the text. ; Decent reading copy of this colorful account. ; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 432 pages
